A temporary kitchen for extensions and building works

Keep a proper kitchen running while your home is extended or refurbished, with a fully fitted pod on your driveway.

Kitchen pod on a driveway during home building works

An extension or a whole-house refurbishment often means losing your kitchen for weeks or months. Walls come down, the water and power get moved, and there's dust everywhere. Our kitchen pod gives you a fully working, self-contained kitchen on your driveway, away from the building works.

Who it's for

  • Kitchen extensions: keep cooking while the back of the house is opened up.
  • Home refurbishments: when several rooms are being done at once.
  • Knock-throughs and open-plan conversions: when the kitchen is part of the work.
  • Kitchen replacements: a temporary kitchen while the new one is fitted.

An alternative kitchen, away from the dust

Building works and cooking don't mix. Instead of a kettle and microwave in the living room, the pod gives you a proper kitchen with its own door, heating and lighting, so you can cook, wash up and do the washing without walking through the site.

  • Gas oven
  • Gas hob and extractor
  • Sink with hot and cold water
  • Fridge freezer
  • Dishwasher
  • Washing machine
  • Breakfast bar
  • Worktops and cupboards
  • Heating and lighting
  • Plenty of plug sockets

Planning around your builder

  1. Get a start date and rough timescale from your builder.
  2. Agree where the pod goes, leaving room for skips and deliveries.
  3. Book the pod to arrive the Sunday before your kitchen is taken out.
  4. Extend if the build runs over. Just tell us as early as you can.

Questions

Can I hire a temporary kitchen for a kitchen extension?

Yes. Many customers hire the pod while a rear or side extension is built and the new kitchen goes in. There's no maximum hire length, so it can stay for the whole build.

Where does the pod go if builders need the driveway?

The pod needs a private, level space 3m wide and 5m deep within 25 metres of a tap, drain and two sockets. Talk to your builder early so there's room for skips, deliveries and the pod.

How long will I need it for?

Extensions usually take 2 to 3 months or more. Take your builder's estimate and add a few weeks. After the first 4 weeks it's £260 a week.
